Based in Cebu City, Philippines, I am a freelance journalist who frequently covers travel and entrepreneurship.
After completing my Multimedia Communications degree in Academy of Art University in San Francisco, I worked in several digital media companies in San Diego, California, assisting in production and editing content for shows like Money Business Life Network.
In 2014, I moved to Cebu City to get married. Since then, I’ve worked with startups and medium-sized businesses locally, as well as clients in Singapore, Australia, and the US in marketing and content.
My work has appeared in Mabuhay Magazine, the in-flight publication of the country’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines. Some of my other articles in entrepreneurship, golf, and travel have been published in Inquirer Golf, e27, and Sunstar, the only major regional newspaper outside Metro Manila.
Golf has been a big part of my life. I started when I was 10 years old, but within a few years, I was already in the Philippine National team, where I competed with world-class golfers in tournaments around Southeast Asia, US, and Australia. Eventually, I was offered a golf scholarship in the US that led to a career in digital media. When I’m not exploring heritage sites or going boating in my hometown Cebu, I’m always dreaming of the next travel destination to write about.
I have several years of experience with Hubspot Inbound and Sales software. As an Inbound Marketer with a specialty in content writing, my goal for clients is to get them leads through their websites.
I use Google Analytics to monitor statistics on this website. Here’s my GA Academy certification.
Photography, Videography and Graphic Design
All content in my website is original, including images, videos, and graphics. I learned to edit journalist-style short-form videos using Final Cut Pro while in college in San Francisco, California. Nowadays, I edit with a simple iMovie and shoot with a Xiaomi YiCam. Most of the background Music is from the Youtube Free Library. Otherwise, other soundtracks have been used with proper attribution and in accordance with the Fair Use Act.
For graphics, I use Canva, a tool loaded with easy to use templates. For images, I shoot with Nikon D3200 and my phone, a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I use similar concepts for photography – lighting, use of rule of thirds, and composition. I edit with Pixlr, Fotor or Photoshop.
As a summary, here are the tools I use:
- Video – iMovie, Xiaomi YiCam, Samsung Galaxy Note 4
- Pictures – Nikon D32
- Music – Youtube Music Library
- Graphics – Canva, Photoshop
About This Blog:
I launched crystalneri.com in October 2013. I’ve always been a writer and reader all my life and have so much to share. Back then it was called crystalsuperal.blogspot.com when I was still single. On this new blog, I write mostly about travel. This is my personal space on the web, so you’ll find blogs about my other passions: relationships, golf, books, and marketing.
